How to have great hair?

Regardless of your hair type, itís possible to keep it healthy and lustrous in all situations. Listed below are some general tips on how to have great hair.
 

Wash your hair correctly

Avoid washing your hair every day, as this will remove the natural oils present in your hair. Massage your scalp gently with shampoo and conditioner for a few minutes. Rinse your scalp thoroughly. If your hair is oily, repeat the whole process using only the shampoo. Massaging the top of your head enhances blood circulation and prevents dandruff. A silicone and sulfate free shampoo is ideal for curly and wavy hair.

Using hair conditioner

Pour a small quantity of conditioner into your hand. Use your finger tips to massage the conditioner to the roots of your hair. If softer silkier hair is your objective, leave the conditioner for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Wash your hair in cool water. Washing with cool water seals the hair cuticles and makes the hair shinier.

To have great hair, dry your hair carefully

Blow dryers are more beneficial to your hair when compared to air-drying if used in the right manner. Set the blow dryer in the cool mode and hold it slightly away from your hair. This protects your hair from the heat of the dryer.

Never wring your hair

Wet hair is fragile. Hence, hair strands will fall out if you wring your hair after a shower.

Never brush your hair when itís wet

Wet hair can be stretched easily and is liable to break. Besides, brushing your hair frequently Ė even when itís dry Ė will result in breakage of hair.

Use a natural bristle brush to have great hair

A boar bristle brush, a type of natural bristle brush, distributes oils uniformly throughout your hair. Consequently, your hair becomes softer and shinier.

Some special treatments for your hair

Deep conditioning treatments like argan oil, olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil are some special treatments for your hair. Additionally, you can use olive oil, egg white, and mayonnaise. Leave this for 2 or 3 hours before rinsing it. Doing this twice every week promotes hair growth.

Be careful of styling products

Most styling products dry your scalp when used directly on the scalp. When you use styling products, apply them carefully on your hair strands and never on your scalp. Avoid using these products every day, as they tend to damage your hair.

Omega-3 fatty acids boost hair growth

Salmon, mackerel, tuna, and many fatty fish are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Almonds, milk, flaxseed oil, and walnuts are the other foods that are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Adding all these foods to your daily diet ensures that you have great hair.

Folic acid, Vitamins B-6 and B-12

These are vital nutrients for healthy hair growth. Bananas, spinach, and potatoes are rich sources of vitamin B-6. Poultry, dairy products, meat, and fish are foods that provide vitamin B-12. Tomatoes, whole grain, beans, lentils and citrus fruits are the best sources of folic acid. Besides these three vital nutrients, sufficient quantity of protein in your diet ensures that you have great hair.
